Jena/Eisfeld, March 21, 2012 — With incoming orders of EUR 1.7 m for the Consumer Optics division, Analytik Jena AG achieved positive trade fair results after the end of the IWA 2012. "The export business is growing in importance for our Optics division. This impression was also confirmed at the IWA," said Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG. "The clearly invigorated business for the Optics division is additionally substantiated by a recently concluded long-term OEM contract with yearly six-figure sales. Correspondingly, for the current financial year, we expect a clear year-on-year increase."

IWA 2011: Analytik Jena with Positive Trade Fair Results for Optics Consumer Division

Jena/Eisfeld, March 21, 2011 — Analytik Jena AG is pleased with the course of the 38th IWA & Outdoor Classics 2011 (IWA) trade fair that took place from March 11-14, 2011 in Nuremberg and is one of the leading trade fairs worldwide in the areas of hunting and sport weapons, classic outdoor equipment and safety equipment. With incoming orders of around EUR 1.7 m, the Optics division of the company booked 30.8% more receipts than in the previous year.

In the framework of the IWA, Analytik Jena presented two new products in the area of target and sighting optics, DOCTER®basic and DOCTER®compact. With 53,220 trade visitors from more than 100 countries, the trade fair achieved a new visitor record.

"The result of this year's IWA confirms our conservative forecasts regarding the market recovery of the segment" said Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG. With solid incoming orders that surpassed the numbers from the previous year, it will be possible for the Optics division to successively achieve higher sales once again.

In the Optics division, Analytik Jena develops and produces high-quality optoelectronic consumer products for the global market under the brand DOCTER® at the Eisfeld location in Southern Thuringia. In the previous financial year of 2009/2010, the company achieved revenues amounting EUR 4.9 m. Each year, the IWA serves as an important yardstick for assessing the economic situation in recent years in the most strongly affected sector of hunting and sport equipment.

"Overall, we are recording a boost in sales, although the business and economic progress in the individual regions varies significantly. The industry has not fully recovered from the crisis," said Reinhard Jacob, Director of the Optics Division at Analytik Jena. Analytik Jena Reports High Level of Incoming Orders at IWA 2010 in Nuremberg

Jena/Eisfeld, March 18, 2010 – At the 37th IWA (International Trade Fair for Hunting and Sporting Arms), which was held between March 12 and March 15 in Nuremberg, Analytik Jena AG reported a high level of incoming orders. In the Optics business unit, the Jena-based specialist for measuring technology, which develops, produces and sells high-quality optoelectronic consumer products for the global market under the brand name DOCTER® at its Eisfeld site in southern Thuringia, closed with more than EUR 1.3 million.

“Despite the weak global economy, this year saw us once again acquiring export orders while maintaining a stable order situation with our German contractual partner Frankonia for the current year”, said Reinhard Jacob, head of the Optics business unit at Analytik Jena. “We are also delighted to have concluded a new contract with a high-performing French wholesale enterprise that will sell our DOCTER® products throughout France”, he adds, summing up Analytik Jena’s participation at the IWA.

Analytik Jena showcased two brand-new products at the IWA: the observation spyglass ASPECTEM and the new DOCTER® range of binoculars with a lens diameter of 42 cm. ASPECTEM 80 / 500 ED features a range of high-performance lenses that substantially improve and optimize image quality. The special ED lenses capture razor-sharp images right up to the edge of the image field and ensure high-fidelity colour rendering, thereby allowing users to perform observation tasks even under difficult conditions.
With the DOCTER® 8x42 ED and DOCTER® 10x42 ED, Analytik Jena is breaking new ground for binoculars with lens diameters of 42 cm. Using state-of-the-art casing materials, Analytik Jena has managed to reduce the weight of this series (whose products can be used for hunting as well as for all outdoor activities such as trekking, camping or sailing) by 15 % in comparison with predecessor models. The new products are scheduled for launch in July 2010.

“Each year, the IWA is an important indicator of the future development of this sector which, more than any other, is affected by global economic uncertainties due to the consumer-oriented target groups on our portfolio”, says Klaus Berka, Chairman of the Executive Board of Analytik Jena AG. “Given the economic recovery in the Optics business unit, we expect the situation to improve again over the medium term.”

In the 37 years since it was launched, the IWA has become the world’s leading trade fair for hunting and sporting arms, traditional outdoor activities and safety equipment. This year at the exhibition site in Nuremberg, over 1,100 exhibitors from Germany and elsewhere showcased their wares – including several hundred brand-new products and innovations – to around 32,000 international trade visitors.
